BCP Music Hub 'Soundstorm'
As part of our membership to the BCP Music Hub 'Soundstorm' we were able to arrange a date for all pupils in school to experience some live music right here at Merley First School. Teachers and pupils were treated to an uplifting musical performance from Thokozile which included Soundstorm's very own Team Leader, Dan Somogyi alongside bandmates Rob Palmer, Neil Evans, Terry Quinney and special guest Cheikh Diop. Cheikh is a familiar face for some in our school as he delivered a set of fantastic Samba sessions for our year four pupils last year.
The aim of bringing Thokozile into school was to allow pupils here at Merley First School to be immersed in a fun and very cultural experience of African Flavoured Jazz. Well the band certainly delivered on this aim and it is fair to say that this Live & Inspired Experience bought early summery vibes into school sending pupils and staff away for half-term filled with a real African Jazz vibe.
Some feedback included; "The children really enjoyed it. I loved the fact they got the kids involved clapping, dancing and waving' The kids all loved it! It was very professional and a great way to end the term.
What a time was had by all for this amazing Live and Inspired Experience
