Merley First School's definition of a young carer is a child, under the age of 18, who is either the main carer, shares a caring responsibility for, or whose day-to-day life is significantly impacted by someone in their home.

We want our young carers in our school to feel seen, feel heard and feel supported.  Each term, we set aside dedicated time outside the curriculum and within the school day, to provide our young carers with a place to talk and feel connected to each other.
