Mental Health and Wellbeing

What is Mental Health?

Mental health is a child's emotional, cognitive, and behavioural well-being. It's an important part of a child's development and is closely linked to their physical health. Children with good mental health are able to:

  • Manage their emotions
  • Build healthy relationships
  • Learn and play
  • Adapt to change
  • Cope with challenges.

At Merley First School, we want all children to have the best possible start in life.  Encouraging children to understand and be open about their feelings can give them the skills to cope with the ups and downs that life will throw at them as they grow up.
